CASCATA
RUNDOWN: Cascata is one of the best offerings you can find near Vegas. It is located about 30 minutes from the strip in Boulder City. It's a literal oasis in the middle of the Nevada desert and no expense is spared here. The conditions you will find are unreal, especially when you compare it to the desert landscape surrounding the property. The course is demanding but also plays very fair as you climb up the mountain and then cascade down from hole to hole. It's a shotmakers course that will reward you if you are hitting your spots. On the other hand, if you are a little wild then you are in for a long day and will burn through a good amount of golf balls. You will have the benefit of having a caddy to help you around the course as well. Use them and your round will go much better. They know their stuff and help with the overall enjoyment out here! Enjoy a little time away from the casinos, but make sure to put a little money on your round too, I mean, you are in Vegas after all!

REVIEW AND HIGHLIGHTS
Hole 1 Par 4 - 367 Yards
The first hole is a straightforward par 4 that gives you a great chance at starting the round off well. Plenty of room off the tee will allow for a chance to hit a fairway from the get go. Playing to the right side will help you avoid the need for a breakfast ball as it will keep you out of the water that runs the length of the hole. You should hopefully have a short iron to a wedge in here, giving you a chance to start off hot before more of the testing holes come into play. The green is fairly large and not too severe. The greens here are very receptive but their defense is definitely their speed. Don't get heavy handed with the putter or you are bound to have a long day out here.
Hole 3 Par 5 - 561 Yards
The 3rd hole offers you your first chance to really tee it high and take a big old rip with the driver! Maybe that isn't the right thing to do if you are trying to hit the fairway, but it sure as hell is the fun thing to do. A high draw off the right side bunkers is a solid play here and the ball will seem to soar forever. Hitting this fairway is critical if you want a shot to get on the green in two. It does take two good pokes to get there but playing downhill really helps here. The green itself isn't the largest on property but it is still plenty big. Running up onto the green is made a little tough with the fairway pinching down so much and a large bunker guarding the right side. Navigate that well and get on for a pretty solid chance at birdie here at least!
Hole 4 Par 3 - 216 Yards
What a solid par 3 here! It plays shorter than the distance suggests as it plays downhill from tee to green. Choose your club wisely because short can be very bad for your score. Going to the right and in the bunker makes for a very difficult up and down. The green works away from the bunker and towards the water and it's easy to carry it too far on a left side pin. The green is large and can offer some lengthy putts to try and get down in two. Your best bet is to throw some money on a closest to the hole wager with your playing partners. Then sack up and hit a good shot to take down their money!
Hole 8 Par 4 - 408 Yards
The par 4 8th is the 3rd handicap hole on the course. It plays well uphill from tee to green. The fairway really pinches down and that will force most people to take less than driver off the tee to avoid problems. Your second shot plays significantly uphill and requires you to get the ball in the air. Running the ball up is not really an option on this hole. The rough and bunker on the left sit well below the putting surface and will test your short game. The green plays significantly back to front and is one of the quicker greens if you are on the wrong side of the pin. This hole will test all aspects of your game to score well. Par here is a welcome score!
Hole 12 Par 3 - 165 Yards
Here is the second shortest par 3 on the course. It plays uphill somewhat, but not severely. So you get a mid iron most likely and can try and score well on this one. The green is pretty well guarded. If you miss then the best side is the right side. This will place you into the bunker instead and not lost in the water or the desert. The green is relatively tame and if you can stick it close this hole affords a good chance at birdie. Don't sleep on it though as that is usually when golf can sneak up and bite you.
Hole 14 Par 4 - 434 Yards
Here is one of our favorite holes on the property. Playing back down the hill you can use less than driver if you have been spraying it a little. Hitting the fairway is key to scoring well on this one. If you happen to get off track you are going to struggle playing this one well. Your approach shot will be made much more difficult if you lose your tee ball right. This will force you to execute an approach almost entirely over water. Play the safe club off the tee to the left side of the fairway, you will thank us later! You will still need to execute a solid approach to have any chance at birdie here. Enjoy the beauty of this one as it is one of the best on the course!
