THANKSGIVING POINT GOLF COURSE
RUNDOWN: As you can see from above, there are some wonderful view to behold on this course. Yes, this is from a drone way up in the air, but there are plenty of holes along the river to catch your attention. The course has hosted numerous big events, including the Utah Open in 2015. The layout is massive and can test every golfer's abilities. You will not run into many easy holes on the course as it proves to be a solid test of golf! The primary wind, out of the northeast, can downright rip through the valley. If that is the case, get ready to tackle one of the harder test of golf you have encountered. I have come to this course playing some of my best golf, only to be sent home with my tail between my legs. There are multiple holes that are enjoyable and beautiful, but you can't lose focus of the hole you are playing or you are guaranteed a large number. Many greens are protected by a multitude of bunkers that force you to carry your approach shots to the putting surface. The course will chew you up and spit you out if you aren't playing your best. For that reason, I would not continually run to play this course. If I was looking for enjoyment, I would go to many of the other courses in the area. Many other courses will prove to be in a little better condition as well. Some holes seemed to be in pretty rough shape overall. With that said though, I would not hesitate to play this course again to see if I can improve on the whippings I have taken in the past.

REVIEW AND HIGHLIGHTS
Hole 5 Par 5 - 617 Yards
The second par 5 on the course is definitely my favorite of the par 5's. A solid view from the tee box is made better with the Jordan river to your right. You will definitely feel ready to grip it and rip it on this hole! The landing area is blind as the hole goes downhill all the way to the green. Avoid pulling your drive to the left as there is a fenced in area that can quickly ruin this hole for you. A solid drive will become even better as it tumbles down the hill. Even for the distance this hole shows from the back tee, it is still reachable with two great shots. The green is protected by bunkers all around the it. The putting surface is very large, like you will find on many holes on the course. Laying up and hitting three into the green may provide you with a better chance at birdie. However, don't expect an easy putt as the green has large undulations and put up a strong defense. That will be the case on almost every hole on the course. Your flat stick will either save you or bury you on this course.
Hole 11 Par 5 - 678 Yards
The first par 5 on the back nine is a beast! You need to come up with a game plan to hit this green in three shots. The water on the right should not come into play for most people, but a poor drive can change that. Keep your shot to the left with a little fade and you will put yourself in a great position. The second shot is all about placing yourself in position to use your favorite club into the green. Bunkers are placed in common landing areas throughout the entire hole. Keep out for he sand and focus on placing your ball in the correct spot. Bunkers guard the green as well with the largest being on the right hand side. The green is relatively tame compared to many of the others on the course. Play the hole to your personal strengths and you will walk away with a solid score. If you try to take on the length of this hole with brute strength then you can expect a much larger score.
Hole 12 Par 4 - 436 Yards
This will be one of the more difficult and intimidating tee shots you will face on the course all day. Water left, the entire length of the hole, and marsh land on the right. Driver is not your play as it brings in too much trouble on the hole. Take a long iron or hybrid off the tee and make sure you strike it well. Even after your shot into the fairway is safe, get ready for a second shot that will test you just as much. The green is fronted by a bunker and the water, so you will not be running anything onto the putting surface. Anything long or right has the chance of striking the cart path and bounding into the marsh land. Land this green safely and you could still be left with a difficult putt. There is a large ridge on the back of the green that can provide a swooping putt. Par on this hole will bring about a sense of accomplishment because your playing partner probably was not as lucky.
Hole 17 Par 3 - 250 Yards
The par 3 is the courses signature hole. It is easy to see why as you step to the tee box. It boasts an impressive view from above this green surrounded on three sides by water. The green is truly massive and you will need to keep your shot closer to the pin to avoid an incredibly long putt. The tee shot plays downhill, which will help you get to a more confident club off the tee. Each time I have played this hole the pin has been tucked just a few paces on from the left fringe. Luckily I have hit two of the better shots on a long par three and ended up with birdie both times. But, looking at this hole from above, you can see just how much trouble sits in front of you.
